I've been in Los Angeles for four and a half years now. The weather is good here. There's plenty to do. But....it's just not clicking. Is it just ME?!?!?

Re: New to Tribe, Old to LA
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 11:41 AMHmm ... sorry to hear that Scott. LA can definitely be a strange place sometimes. I definitely had my days when I wasn't feeling it. But I think that what made me love the place and really feel connected to it were the great social networks I formed there. And that can take a while!
I guess my only suggestion to you would be to start exploring parts of LA (both geographically and culturally) that are outside of your normal comfort zone & routine. If you are a west side person, try checking out some downtown areas. If you typically drive to work, try checking out the subway or biking a bit. I don't know anything about you so my apologies if I'm making suggestions that seem obvious.
LA really started to feel like home for me when I was able to start creating something there .. in my case, that was a warehouse space where my friends could come hang out and throw events.
Best of luck to you! -

Re: New to Tribe, Old to LA
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 1:00 PMI do need to get out of my usual routine. That's for sure. I hear people talk about all of the old New Yorkers that are out here, but I never seem to meet any.... I wonder where you are all hiding? -

Re: New to Tribe, Old to LA
Wed, December 28, 2005 - 2:29 PMbetter question: where do you hide?
tell us a bit about yourself and maybe some of us folk in l.a. could meet up with you (some ex-nyc, some l.a. folk just lovers of the apple.)
unfortunately (for this conversation,) i'm headed out to spain for a bit--but i'm totally down to meet new folk and let them "in" on l.a.
